Supplemental Liability Insurance: Alaska 4x4 offers an SLI product for renters to purchase. If accepted, coverage will be provided to Renter and any authorized driver under a policy issued by Empire Fire and Marine Insurance Company. If accepted, Renter agrees to pay an additional daily charge which will show on the rental agreement. The purchase of SLI is not required to rent a car. Additional information is available in a product brochure that will be provided.
SLI is in addition to Renter’s own insurance and purchase of SLI does not eliminate the requirement that Renter have and maintain insurance with the limits required by this Rental Agreement and the laws of Alaska. Whether, at what point, and to what extent, the Renter’s own policies apply can only be determined by the Renter as these terms frequently vary. SLI provides protection from third party automobile claims for the difference between the minimum financial responsibility limits, or underlying insurance, and maximum combined single limit of liability of $1,000,000 of rental for bodily injury, death or property damage for each accident caused by the use or operation of the rental vehicle as permitted in this rental agreement. SLI does not apply to liability for bodily injury or property damage arising out of any “prohibited use of the vehicle” as described in paragraph 7 of this rental agreement or in violation of any law, ordinance, or regulation, all of which are exclusions to SLI. If Renter is involved in an accident, Renter must complete an accident report and deliver via email or mail to Alaska 4x4. Failure to complete an accident report will void any insurances or damage waivers selected. This form is available upon request or online at: www.dot.alaska.gov/stwplng/hwysafety/driverreport/

If accepted, PAC provides Renter and passengers with accidental death benefits, accident medical expenses benefits and ambulance expense benefits. The coverage provided by PAC may duplicate Lessee’s existing coverage under other insurance policies. Alaska 4x4 is not qualified to evaluate the adequacy of Renter’s existing coverage; therefore, Renter should examine their personal insurance policies or other sources of coverage that may duplicate the coverage provided by PAC.
